I hit up Arbuckle today. Almost died in the heat... wow!Chuck was right... looks like a tough place to hunt. Allthe scrub looks the same. How do you pinpoint onan area to hunt other than water?
Saw three monster hogs out there though. Had to bepushing 200 lbs. Jumped up out of the marshgrass about 10 yards away and headed into a thicket of scrub oak. Pretty exciting.

On the map it shows the main road is Schoolbus Road...Are the trails going off Schoolbus road as good as the dirt roads in the Green Swamp?
Those hogs must have been exciting.

Wow that is a nice hog and the tractor definnitely looks easier. That would be an exhaustingdrag. The first one I saw yesterday ... I was almost thinking bear for a second when I first caught a glimpse because it was so large.
As for the roads at Arbuckle.... currently you can only enter through the North side @ Rucks Dairy/Schoolbus Road. The southschoolbus gate and the Tram Road gate are both closed till 30 days before season. The roads that are open to public vehicles are all in great shape ... a little sandy in spots but easily handled by any vehicle. There aren't a whole lot of roads open to the public that go off of Tram and Schoolbus. I went down Lake Godwin and McLean Cabin Roads and they are both great. Somehow I missed Cowpen Road but I am sure it is in good shape too.

I appreciate the feedback about Schoolbus Road.. Nice hog Huntin Ma.
I plan to stay with the Green Swamp..There was enough game killed last year to tell us that they are in there. We just need to hone up our hunting skills. A friend of my sons got 2 quality bucks and 1 hog last year out of there.I know their in there. The deer I shot tasted outstanding.
