Default Southern deer stay bedded in cold temps?

Here in SC I have a hard time seeing deer when the temps get below 30. I hunt clearcuts so I would think the warmth of the sun would draw deer but it's not unitl the temp get's to around 30 that I start to see deer. Do southern deer stay bedded when the temps drop below 30?

Default RE: Southern deer stay bedded in cold temps?

I hunt in SW Arkansas and I too hunt clearcuts. However I love it when it gets cold. We have a late Muzzleloader season usually runs from right before xmas to about the 5th of Jan. During this time I prefer to hunt on colder days and with rain preferably just a drizzle or even sleet. The areas that have been most productive for me are freshly thinned areas with lots of honeysuckle. Most productive after 1st thin but subsequent thins are also productive. We usually hunt these areas by slipping down the logging roads.

When the tailgate drops, the bull$*!@ stops!!!!
