I have been trying to find out if it is legal to hunt fox and coyote at night with the use of a spotlight. I tried to email the vgif but they have not answered me back. Game wardens are never around when need to ask a question. Damn budget cuts in VA.

I know a guy who says hes shining fox and shoots the deer so I would not do it. These wardens are out more at night then you think. Hell honestly I have not seen a warden this year. I think Va layed them all off....

coolbrezo is correct. you have to be on private land with the land owners written permission. hunting coyote's and fox is a little easier when done this way if done right. colored lenses such as blue will also help you alot. you will draw some atttention from the wardens but if your just calling predators and have the right to be on the land you have no worries as long as your not doing anything illegal.
p.s. wardens will check from advantage points with nvg's (night vision goggles) and your spotlight will STAND out... so make sure you have your license
