If the VDGIF want more deer harvested each year then they should provide more tags.

I agree we all should have the choice. I am a very avid bass fisherman, and have competed on the Citgo Bassmaster Trail. I say that fishing is a little different, the fish are let go and have another chance to bite again. Not so with deer hunting. I just firmly believe that out of the 6 days a person can hunt, there is a lot of pressure put on the deer. They need the day of rest also.

Odd, I can think of at least a 1/2 dozen other things that I'd enjoy hunting on Sunday other than just Deer.

Perhaps it's time us 2nd class citizens (Hunters) start witholding 1/7 of our state taxes?

Seperation of Church & State and Virginia's so-called Right-to-Hunt law, yeah right!

To damn bad Pat Robertson isn't the Hunter's advocate that his pappy, Willis, was(that apple not only fell a goodly distance from the tree, but must havealso rolled downa quite steephill)!

You got that right, yano....
From what I've heard (grumblings here and there on various forums, little "birdies" told me, etc...etc...) that this was supposed to be The Year. Think about it... They bumped up the license fees (each), and there's such a lack of land, opportunities and time. And the big one - the DGIF survey came back 62% - 34% in favor of Sunday hunting. Anyway, what I've heard is that some hunters are thinking of totally boycotting the DGIF and not buying a license next year! [&:]
Hey, I didn't start this, encourage this, or do anything. But I do think it is hilarious!

ButchA are you going to boycot and not buy your license next year?
I hopped off the fence on the issue and I support NO HUNTING ON SUNDAY, for a few reasons. First I am a waterfowler and the feds set the framework for the days of hunting per year most rescent years its been 60. Sunday hunting would shorten my season. I am not sure how it would effect Deer Hunting, but I am very familiar with hound hunting and the relentless persuit of the dogs. I beleive the Deer need a day to rest.
Also I am a native Virginianan born and raised, I have never known anything different and it dosn't bother me I kinda like the day to travel or spend it with my family and know that I am not missing a day of hunting by doing something else.
I am curious of one thing, how many of the people that support hunting on Sunday are actually native to Virginia or is it the influx of outsiders that want to change things? Hopefully that does not soundlike a confrontational statementI am just wondering is it that people coming in are used to things the way they were raised or are use to.? I do know when I go out West it feels weird to knowingly be hunting on Sunday.

]I just think it's funny that hunters are possibly considering it. But for me, I won't do it.
Regarding the Sunday hunting issues, I believe a lot of people are getting frustrated - local native Virginians, as well as "come here's" {such as myself}... There is a serious lack of time and lack of opportunities nowadays. The M-F worker only has Saturdays to hunt and if he gets really busy at work, he can't normally take the needed time off during the week. Sunday hunting would allow more opportunities. Kids would more readily go hunting if they could go on a Sunday (because they are busy on Saturdays with school sports, scouts, etc...).
The issue of deer need a day of rest, has been squashed so many times it isn't worth the discussion.

influx of outsiders
I've been stationed in states that allowed Sunday hunting, but I didn't hunt every Sunday. However, I had the option to go if I wanted to.
I'll continue to pay for a license just because it's the lawful thing to do.
My personal way of continuing to support this issue is to vote for the legislators in my district who supports the issue. I encourage all who support the issue to write/email and/or fill out those surveys they send you about "hearing your views" and let them know that you support (or don't support) Sunday hunting. Obviously the voice of the Fish and Game survey wasn't heard.
Don't know who your legislator is? Follow the link below to find out.
