I would prefer no limitations but sometimes we have to "crawl before we canwalk."

atleast if it does get passed it will only be for a half day, maybe that will keep some of the clubs dropping dogs in the woods on Sunday

ORIGINAL: Pearl Jam

I guess my negative view on Sunday hunting is really more towards Sunday hunting in general firearms season. If they allowed the sunday hunting in only bow season and blackpowder season I'd be fine with it, but when it comes to firearms season where there are dogs in the woods I just can't support it. The deer are always so shook up after Saturdays because of the big clubs dropping dogs in the woods that they need that day to recover. I also think that will lead into more days where dogs are in the woods that were left out there from the weekend. I can't tell you how many times I've had a beautiful still hunting day ruined by dogs. I've learned to deal with dogs in the woods though.I do know that on Sundays a lot of hunters go and track their dogs and try to catch them, by allowing them to hunt on Sunday it will only lead to more dogs in the woods during the weekdays where people like myself are still hunting. Monday's have always been my most successful huntingdays, the deer are calmer and I always see more it seems.

I just think if Sunday hunting is passed there should be some strong limitations to what can go on. Personally I enjoy having Sunday to relax and take a break from hunting. I know some people work all week and can only get out there on the weekend though.

I just think a lot more thought should be put into this and hopefully more peoples opinions will be heard before they reach their final decision.
I agree with you Pearl Jam, I'm not a fan of the dog thing. When I moved to Va 10 years ago I joined a hunt club that ran dogs. I didn't know the area and joined so I could hunt somewhere that season. So, I can say without prejudice that I don't like it. Now I hunt properties where dogs aren't ran.

Butch...thanks for the update.

Hey Butch, how about next we work on a late archery season. Maryland has a late season from Jan 8 to Jan 31.

Hmmm.... A later bow season would be cool, but the deer might be/would be still skiddish from the previous rifle season and might still be nocturnal. Besides that, does would have been bred, so taking a pregnant doe wouldn't be too good of an good idea. It would upset a lot of people (trying to play the devil's advocate here....)

I like with Rick64 is saying. An earlier start to bow season would be awesome! [8D]

Hunting should be allowed on Sunday, at least on private land at the very least. Where did this no hunting on Sunday stuff come from anyway? The same people who think it's a bad idea to buy beer after midnight? Laws like this are an anachronism and need to be done away with.

MarinePride,

The law dates back to 1870 and is a left over colonial "Blue Law". See my internet petition about it....

Hey Butch,

Who on the ACNR Committee is publicly holding the Sunday hunting vote up? I sent you a PM. Talk to you later.
