I got this 8 pointer on Tuesday morning at 8:10 AM, Nov. 7th with my black powder rifle. His neck was swelled pretty good but not full yet and his hocks were dark and smelled strongly. I saw a 6 pointer this morning, opener of gun season, that I let pass and he had his nose to the ground looking and searching. I'm in the center of NC. Just though I'd pass on the info.

I hunt in Wake county and further south in Bladen county and have seen some mild chasing by smaller bucks. I have also had bucks follow my drag rag trail and scent dispenser trails but they were also small. No luck so far with calls. The next two weeks should show much more activity

You should be fine. Atleast where I hunt bucks are still in full chase mode at Thanksgiving. I don't know if the peak is starting to wind down then but it is still going on. The day before Thanksgiving has always been a great day for me. One year, I shot a buck that was chasing a doe.
Of course with this crazy weather I don't know what this year will bring. At one spot they started rubbing trees and making scrapes earlier than normal, but then we just had that warm spell.
Best of luck to you!!
