Take your climber and get about 20 feet up and run a cable from one tree to another about 15 feet away. Then take your timer type feeder and using a hand winch, pull the barrel up 10 or so feet off the ground. You will need to put a pully on your hanging cable to pull the barrel up.

Thanks Timbercruiser.

But whatI ment is what canI put in the feeder that the bears won't come eat. So they don't spook the deer.

I shot a doe during bow season and when I found it 35 min. after shot at the of a 65 yard trail only to discover three bears had already found it and were eating it.

Cotton seed. Non-ruminants cannot eat it because it contains gossypol. Ruminants like deer and cattle can detoxify it because the microorganisms contained in the rumen bind it in a manner that keeps the animal from absorbing it.

timber cruiser you read my mind....last year i welded up a metal l pole to hang my feeder on and the friggin bear climber the damnded thing....this turkey season i walked up some guys stand where he did exactly what you described....you must be the guy....thanks for putting your stand in my favorite spot....lolol.....as far as cotton seed goes....does it kill the bears?......could you imagine what game and fish would have to say about that one.....holy crap...i think i would have better luck explaining why i shot the bear......friggin bears.....florida needs to open a season on them again.....statewide.

as a side note....did anyone see the girl who got eaten by the gator in silver glen on lake george?...the news did a story on her, showing her mother in tenn or pa or somewhere....and mom gets on tv saying she was an artist, an animal lover, a vegetarian...peta type person......lol.....hate to see anyone die....but isnt that one ironic.
