Default first groundhog of the year

i saw the years first groundhog the other day on the side of the highway in norwhich, CT, today... there were two of em... i went home later that day, went out and bought a new scope... the hogs are in for a suprise in my fields this year.... anybody have any groundhog tips they can give me? i'm a newbie to groundhogs

Patience.. that's the biggest tip I can offer. Check your local laws about orange/camo. Here in PA we just have to have a blaze orange hat. I wear that and camo. Then I set up on the edge (up hill edge if I can) and wait. I also carry a dog whistle so if they are walking I give a quick squeek, They stop, sit up and I can usually get a nice shot off. i got that sucker last year, a real pinch, i crawled 100 yards across my field to get a good prone shot with that 223 M70... it has a 4x fixed leupold on it, this year i will have my 270, 700ADL with a 3-12x sightron....

Nice pics and nice rifle. I used to just use a .22lr. Did the trick but this year I plan to use my Remington 700BDL .308 with 110 gr ballistic tips. I just have to find a load that will make them hold a better group then 3 inches at 200 yrds..

i guess i should shoot 130's instead of 150's... i wanna see the bastards blow up though... idk...

i have been out hunting them hogs this year also for the first time. Got a new gun also. Rem 700vls 22-250. got this one at about 100yds with a sierra 52gr bthp. got'em on the R&R looking away from me.

I shot at one twice and missed a few days ago. I went yesterday and shot only a crow. My cousin killed 3 already.

nice shot. 22-250's do a number on whistle pigs. With all this groundhog talk I'm foaming at the mouth to shoot some. Too bad it's going to rain here on the weekend.
