Default 17 HMR ammo???

I am thinking about getting a 17 HMR but I have read that the vmax is to explosive for varmints wood chuck size and larger. Is the vmax and TNT the only bullets for the 17 HMR? How does the TNT do for exploding/expansion and penetration? Are there any more bullets coming out for the 17 HMR?

Thanks for the help.

I've shot quite a few chucks with the V-Max's out of my 17, a few over 100yds. They worked just fine.

I wouldn't use them on anything bigger than a groundhog, though.

cci make gamepoint that are 20hr hollow point and hornady makes XPT which is 20gr hollow point, these are for larger game like yotes. i am going to use my vmax for yotes and take head or neck shots and if the opertunity does not present my cousin will thump them with his 22 250. the TNT's tend not to be explosive they pass through your game on everyshot ive seen.
