In my eyes you can not go wrong with a Ruger 10-22. I've had mine since the mi '70s and its been shot like you couldn't imagine. It still shoots like the day I got it. Put a 3x9 scope on it and you will be happy.

there are so many good .22's out there that dont cost an arm and a leg. Like Coyote Tim said, its hard to beat the ruger 10/22's, i love mine. Marlin also makes good, affordable .22's in bolt and semi-auto. It wouldnt hurt to check them out, they even make one marketed just for squirrel hunting they call the SSQ with a synthetic stock and bull barrel. Another suggestion may be a NEF single shot .22, very cheap, fun to shoot and a great all around gun.

Hey 30-06lover,
There are a bunch of good cheap guns out there, like the guys have been saying. I recently setup a new Savage 62F with a 4x32 scope, total cost at Wal-Mart was $135.00 {that's everything includeing a box of CCI Stingers}. It shoots great. I tested at 50yrds and got 30 shots in a 3/8" circle, which I think isn't bad for a semi-auto. Now I want one too {The one I setup is my girlfriends}

Happy Hunting,

Ruger 10-22 you will not regret it, trust me they are the only 22's I own now, I have 3 of them. I used to have 2 marlins a mod 60 and a mod 995 stainless, I traded both for a stainless 10-22.

Ruger 10/22 or 77/22 hands down. My 77/22 can put 10 rounds in a circle that can be covered up with a dime at 25yards using a rest.
