Definately get the .177 pellet rifle. It will have 64% more energy/ killing power than the .22 if they were both shooting BBs.
Since .177 BBs and .22 BBs are simular in demensions thier specific mass with be a constant ratio relative to thier size difference, provided they are made of the same metals. So if you divide the diameter of one by the other you can find that ratio for the two seperate calibers. Then it is just a matter of plugging the numbers into the KE equation.
.22/.177 = x/1 = 1.242938 = .22 caliber
.177/.177 = 1/1 = 1 = .177 caliber

1.242938 * 700^2 = 609,039.62
1 * 1000^2 = 1,000,000

1,000,000 / 609,039 = 1.641931 = 164% ke of .177 compared to .22 at 100%

So basically the .177 has more energy and it it will shoot flatter and faster.
