I could use some groundhog hunting tips everything from when to hunt where how and equipment.Thanks

All i do is grab the gun and head to the farm. Normally a nice set of binoculars really helps because sometimes clumps of dirt will look like hogs. I use a .22-250 so i can reach out and touch them a little further out. i have a ruger mark II with a simmons 6-24x scope. i also have my bowhunting range finder because its hard to estimate yardage in corn and grass fields. you can pretty much shoot groundhogs all day from sun up to sunset. my favorite is around 6 to like 745 or 8 right now. my roommate hunts with a .17hmr which is good to about 200 yards. i killed one with his a 212 yards. with my .22-250, i have hit them at 350 yards. find a farm and walk around and you will find the holes. back off about a 100 yards and sit and wait. i also like to just drive around and spot them then set up and shoot...good luck

I usually see the most between 2:30-3:30 pm. Thats when they seem to come out of their holes the most. I was out last friday for six hours. I shot three, in a fifteen minute span at 3 o'clock. I have hunted them for 11 years, and that seems to be the best time. Someone told me once thats when they come out looking for water. Don't know if thats true, but that is when i have seen the most.

im my area it hasn't been real hot "mid 80's" so they have been out all day. yet they are most active at around 10-11 am and 5-8pm. they can be shot with about any gun you have really. i use a 243 and a 223. the 243 has a 3-9 leupold and the 223 wears a 4-12 leupold. shots range from 100-400. i have noticed they will like to lay on rocks and bake in the sun to warm up after a rain storm. hope this helps some

all i have is a 22lr and a 3006 rifle wise....so i take the 3006....killed 4 this year.....sitting in a row of pine trees waiting for them to come into the fields...i got out about 5 and hunt till dark.....heading out wednday if its nice...cant wait.....im taking the 50cal flintlock!!! that will be FUN!...ive killed them from 20feet out to 300yds so far......the 3006 is overkill as is the 50cal flinter....but its what i got and it kills em dead.....only one i had run i was trying to be a smart@$$ and shot him in the neck trying to decapitate him(im just sick like that lol) well my bullet hit right where i wanted....but the deer ammo didnt open so it just left a pencil hole in his neck...he took off running straight away...worked the bolt and racked another in and hit him in the rear....he died like the rest....its fun...i cant wait to get back out htere......good luck

i like to get close to the hog so i use my hoyt ultratec bow and arrow. but somtimes o will get my 22-250 out just to shoot a few at long range. but make sure you have good optics because they are some times hard to see in clover or bean fields.

i like to drive around they dont here you comming. a 2002 gmc mirror make good rests. just pust you barrel betwwen the A-piller and the mirror.

anywhere on a golf cart makes a good rest too. using a truck is my fav though.
