MA JAY WINS JANUARY PHOTO CONTEST!
#1
Gang,
I tallied the votes and MA JAY is the winner with the most votes going to his coyote pic! Nice going!
I did not wait for the poll to go up as I did not want to drag out the contest too long.

PS- Ma Jay... I sent you a message. Let me know if you did not get it

Congrats MAJay, that was a great picture.
Now are we ready for the Feb. contest, because I went out this a.m. and rounded up another
I had a buddy with me this morning, and he was carrying his bow, and I carryed my rifle. The idea was to bring them in for him to shoot with the bow, and I'd shoot cleaned up. Well, I sat him about 35 yards downwind of me, at the mouth of a deep raven that we were over looking, and we figured if anything came, it would go around the end of the ravin which was downwind of me, and that would take them right to him. So I started off the set with several female invitation howls, waited about five minutes, then went to one of my favorite open reed calls to do some dying bunny blues, at about 10 minutes into the set, a pair came over the hill and headed right to my buddy as planned. Well one of the coyotes held up about 6o yards out form him, but the little female came into about 25 yards, infront of my buddy. Unfortunatly, there was no shot do to a small bush in the way. So the coyote turned to start leaving and went behind brush from me and I started doing a few mouth "barks" to try to stop them from running off, and the female did stop, and my buddy shot it at about 40 yards, but I didn't know that he had gotten the shot, so when I saw the coyote next time, it was hauling the mail getting out of dodge, so I got on it with my 22-250 and let one fly, and I rolled her up. He did hit it with his arrow, too far back, so it was a good thing that I rolled her up, as it may have been a long tracking job, if she didn't find a hole first.
We did five sets this morning, only called in one pair. Oh, and she was rubbed pretty bad, so looks like my season is coming to an end in the near future

Thanks guys!!!!
My Father is going to be shocked, he is always catching crap for being the guy who can't center a shot or get the focus right!
I really enjoyed all the pictures people sent in, a nice change from all the bucks in truck bed photos we usually see.
Hopefully I'll get lucky tomorrow to have some Feb photos to show, as my Dad and I are heading out with our day off.
Thanks again.
Awesome photo Howler .. that is an incredible background!
