I can understand that not specifically squirrel but other game I have found to be tough at times. But for me it doesn't bother me. I have never tried it in a crock pot or pressure cooker though only in a soup though that had softened it a good bit.

You can avoid a lot of the toughness with 3 methods. Pressure cooking, is one. the crock pot slow cooking method is another way. and the 3d way is to parboil them a little before frying and such.

SoloCamper 10-08-2015 03:51 PM

toytruck 10-08-2015 05:33 PM

Theloneoutdoorsman 10-08-2015 06:21 PM

I'm heading out tomorrow staying overnight so hopefully I'll get a few

Bocajnala 10-08-2015 06:28 PM

Make sure ya'll check your own scores to make sure I've got your numbers right. I'm not a math guy. Also if someone on each team takes a quick glance occasionally to make sure the team totals are right. Let me know if there's any issues so I can go back through the thread and review the numbers. Good job so far everyone.

When squirrel hunting is involved, I call my camping trips "hunting expeditions". :p I'm headed out for a couple days early next month.

I hear ya!! My wife has eaten some of the back legs in the past, but that's it an not in several years. My grandkids like them also so I will fix a mess when I see them.

jrbsr 10-17-2015 04:34 AM

I have been out but the leaves are still on the trees.
You see one second, and then they are gone, under the leaves somewhere.
I will be glad when the leaves turn color, and start falling off.
Even with binoculars you can't find them.

gavinlobland 10-17-2015 01:06 PM

I'll probably try to make it out tommorow morning was gonna go tonight but got a text and I gotta go to work instead

I've been waiting on that as well though the area I'm hunting a lot has fallen off already I've only had good luck walking along logging trails. Find them right on the edge of the woods.

Had one of those in my yard two summers ago.

I'm headed out on a two-night, one-hunt squirrel hunting expedition. Returning on Halloween with a cooler full of squirrels.

SoloCamper 10-31-2015 07:16 PM

Well the cooler wasn't full, but I did manage to get this little guy, and saw an owl which was pretty cool.

I haven't been out for a couple of weeks because of a bum knee but plan to be back in the woods tomorrow morning. Got to pull team 3 back into the lead, I'm in it to win it boys.:)

Good work SoloCamper, that should tie us back up.

LONGHUNTER1750 11-03-2015 09:19 AM

Two more for team 3

Bocajnala 11-04-2015 06:56 PM

I'd like to count that rabbit... But as it is a squirrel contest, only squirrel.... Maybe next year we could vote on the competition allowing other small game or if it should just stay a squirrel competition. Any thoughts on that?
-Jake

LONGHUNTER1750 11-04-2015 07:03 PM

did not expect you to count the rabbitt just the squirrels

Ya, ya I know. I got that. I was just saying I would LIKE to count it. I'm like you and often hunt both when they are in season together. Friday is our rabbit and pheasant opener so I'll be out in the fields friday.
-Jake

LONGHUNTER1750 11-04-2015 07:08 PM

this is the first rabbit I have taken around here in about ten years, they are pretty scarce in these parts

same here, we have a few rabbits that we feed every summer only for most of them to get killed in the road. The wife won't let me shoot them even if I wanted to.

I cut my teeth on rabbit hunting, then squirrel when a teenager darn shame!!

LONGHUNTER1750 11-05-2015 09:55 AM

Every one around here blame coyotes for the decline in the rabbit population but I believe it is the hawks to blame. There are hundreds of them, on a 45 minute drive to an adjoining town we counted over 90 of them on the power lines.

LONGHUNTER1750 11-08-2015 09:30 AM

Nine this morning for team three.

Theloneoutdoorsman 11-13-2015 06:40 PM

Been out a few times not a single squirrel in site. But deer season starts next saturday so won't be going for squirrels unless it's later in day.

gavinlobland 11-14-2015 10:32 AM

I think team 2 and 4 are out of the race lol

jrbsr 11-14-2015 02:47 PM

This not being able to hunt is killing me. UUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Even the squirrels are laughing at me.
There was about four of them in the back yard, with one foot on their mouth, and the other one pointing at me snickering.
