get 3" shells....I have shot a lot of things with my .410, red squirrels, chipmunks, woodcock, grouse, porcupines hehe The bad thing about it is that branches can stop the pellets pretty easy. Good Luck

I love using my .410 for squirrels. If you ask me it' s the best gun to use.
With a 12 or 20ga you just shoot them all up and a I' m just not accurate enough with a .22.I had a bad experience with my .22 once and swore I would never use it again.I shot a squirrel 4-5 times before it got away and the last time I saw it it had blood all over it' s stomach.Made me sick.EVERYTHING should be killed quickly and not suffer at all.

Yeah my very first shotgun was an .410 and i liked to a certain degree. When i was dove hunting and it was a flock of several, and i missed, it was frustrated. But when i got one i was pretty happy with it. It was a fun gun to shoot squrriels and such with, i wouldnt mind getting another one one of these years. But i agree, the shells can be expensive and a pain in the butt to find around here.

My first gun was a .410 Bagged quite a few pheasants with it. 3" no. 5 shot was always my favorite. Every once in a while I' ll take her out and let her knock one out of the sky for old times sake.
