Scent controll for coyote snares
#11
For clarity, my post that read:
I will reiterate RiverJay's remarks about "smoking" the wire black. Do NOT let the flame touch it. Getting it too hot can cause oxidation and weaken your snares.
Simple mistake. Sorry for the confusion.

im sure if you ask around you will find a trapping assoiation in your area they will show you the right way to set a snare,I boil mine in bakeing soda .dry them and put them in zip locks.I set with gloves or run my hands through sage brush.dont walk the trails you set.Fox,cats, and coon 8 inch loop 8 inches from bottom of loop to ground coyotes 12 inch loop 12inches from bottom loop toground.Set your lock at about one oclock.I use no.9 wire for support. If you can check them with your binocs. When setting fences allow for the coyotes ,foxes feet to go under your snare and use shorter snares so when they jump the fence they will hang themselves. hope this helps, doing it this way i have snared over two hundred fox and over a hundred coyotes .
