Question Predator hunting with a ghillie

i recently just finished making my ghillie suit (I think) and i decided to put it to the test today by putting natural foliage in the netting with the burlap. The suit is very good and breaks the outline really well. i have seen a lot of pictures of ghillie suits that only have the burlap and netting on the back and legs which means that you would have to be prone for it to work which mine is setup for. I'm going to be hunting coyote in the woods where there is no open fields and i really don't want to be prone in the middle of the woods where a coyote can come from behind and the way I'm gonna be shooting low and at a close range of 50yrds. should i just put burlap on the front of the ghillie so i will be able to sit up?. one thing about the ghillie is that it smells and makes me smell because ill be hunting in the summer and coyotes have a very keen sense of smell.Should i still try it? Alot post say that it is too much and is really not needed while others say they have stalked deer and have gotten 10 feet up to one. If this ghille is not quite swell for hunting then ill just put it to use and scare my neighbors >=)

I'd think in an area with a lot of "woods", the ghillie wouldn't be needed really. I use one quite a bit, BUT I hunt where there's very little cover and zeero trees, to blend in with.
As far as the stink, sounds like you already realize that a coyotes nose is superb and cutting down on your "stink" may help, but in the end, if you're set up correctly then you should be able to shoot the coyote before it gets down wind.

I call my ghillie my "snag rag" because it does like to grab stuff, BUT I keep using it because it allows me to sit where I don't have to have cover to blend in with and often times, I just don't have any cover to sit in, behind, infront of, or around.
