I'd think in an area with a lot of "woods", the ghillie wouldn't be needed really. I use one quite a bit, BUT I hunt where there's very little cover and zeero trees, to blend in with.
As far as the stink, sounds like you already realize that a coyotes nose is superb and cutting down on your "stink" may help, but in the end, if you're set up correctly then you should be able to shoot the coyote before it gets down wind.

I call my ghillie my "snag rag" because it does like to grab stuff, BUT I keep using it because it allows me to sit where I don't have to have cover to blend in with and often times, I just don't have any cover to sit in, behind, infront of, or around.
