Default R-15 223

i like the 22-250 but id raher use my remington r-15 223. i love it and it is a great shooting gun. i keep 3" patterns at 200 yards and with the free floating barrel, it will fire quite a few rounds without warming up and slinging them.

.22-250 is a classic varmint/predator cartridge...........can't go wrong with that.

I use a .204 40gr V-max or my .243 with 75gr V-max for predators, if I expect long shots on windy days.

I reserve my .17 HMR for varmints only, as a rule.

............not that a well placed shot behind the ear would drop them.

.17 fireball and .17 rem. are very cool guns. I wouldn't shoot them at a predator over 200 yards, but they are super fun to shoot. The wind does play hobb with them though. I noticed shooting prairie dogs with a friend that either of those two guns would blow off course very easily if there was even a little change in breeze, but they were a lot of fun to shoot!

I use my 17 Fireball for prairie dogs only, but I wouldn't hesitate to use it for any of the fox species and probably bobcat since they are thinned skinned critters. I'm sure it would work on a coyote too, but it wouldn't be any where in my top 10 cartridges for coyote hunting.

Another Question:
I've heard the 22-250 is a very flat, accurate, and long range shooting rifle but has noticeably more expensive bullets than the .223 which is not as long range but is still a good predator rifle, but other people disagree and say that its the other way around. So my question is: which gun is more or less cheaper to shoot?
Any thoughts?

The .223 rifle is cheaper, but you give up both velocity and energy with the .223 over the 22-250 or 220 Swift. That and the weight of bullets for the 223 are limited to the rather lighter weight bullets as where the 250 or 220 shoot heavier bullets as a whole for better wind bucking results.

[QUOTE][That and the weight of bullets for the 223 are limited to the rather lighter weight bullets as where the 250 or 220 shoot heavier bullets as a whole for better wind bucking results./QUOTE] beings how the 22-250, the .220 swift and the .223 are all 22 calibers, I've got to ask: do you not realize any bullet than can be shot through a 22-250 or swift can also be shot through a .223?
