Default 22 ammo

What ammo do you shoot in your 22 for squirrels, rabbits,an other critters?

I use my 22 for squirrels, coons, possums, fox, bobcat, coyote and I use Remington golden bullets. They are really accurate in my Henry.

I have also used the federal bulk packs and had a lot of duds. The cci stingers pack a punch but I didn't find that necessary at my ranges. The Winchester experts were horrible for me they shot really dirty. The Remington vipers were good bullets and I didn't have any problems with them.

I want to try some cci mini mags and Remington target rifle bullets.

nothing better than the 40 grain CCI Velocitor HP, flatest and the most energy according to my ballistcs app. only problem is finding them. when you find some buy all you can afford.

I'm not real keen on using a .22lr for yotes or bobcats. There are just too many calibers that do so much better on these critters in my opinion.

On squirrels, out of my S&W pistol, I like to use the Remington Targets. They will pretty much cut holes at 50' if I do my part.

CCI Mini Mag 36 grain HP are my fav 22 ammo. Killed everything from chipmunks to yotes with them out of my 10-22.

I use mostly Eley SubSonic in my 40-XR and Mossberg 144LSB Target. I then use RWS SubSonic Pistol match in my Lone Eagle 22lr and S&W 41. I can sit and shoot my limit out of the same tree and never move without the tree rats even knowing I'm there when I find a large cutting tree. Other than that, its just pure practice on stalkling to get inside 40 yds and make that one shot kill.

I'm using Rem Subsonics now.Critters like coons, bobcats and coyotes require a good deal more punch than any Lr round provides regardless of range.

I use 36gr federal hp's in my Remington speedmaster I've killed squarels rabbits snakes coons opossoms and even a large dog no problems. In my ruger mk 2 I use 40gr winchester wildcats there LRN as the federals don't expand good outa a pistoul.

I use Remington subsonics on squirrels. In my experience higher velocities in .22 = lower accuracy.

I second Bradley300 on the CCI 40 gr. Velocitor!!! Absolutley devastating on groundhogs, out to 70 yards out of my Marlin 39A. Head shots of course. Ground hogs will take a .22 in the chest and run almost everytime. But again, these bullets have not been easy for me to find either.

I use federal .22LR, bought a 550 bullet box for $5.00 5-6 years ago. Almost gone now starting to have a few duds this year too. I guess I'll just have to buy another box.
