bunnies w/beagles!!!!
Hey everyone...
I'm sure all this topic has been tossed back and forth, but I'm an avid hunter on Southern ont... Deer Turkeys Waterfowl and pretty much anything in season. I'm keen on buying a 2 or 3 beagle pups and training em to run bunnies.
I have a few buddies, and I would love to have the chance to get a few radios, and run jacks and cottontails on a saturday morning or something. It just sounds like a blast - kinda like the guys that do yotes but on a smaller scale. Has anybody done this before? Is there anything special to look for in a pup, and how do you train them? Is this method succesful, and is there anything too look out for?
Does anybody know of somebody I could go with for a day in Southern Ont. Or are there any websites or forums dedicated to this sport where i could find more info?
Thanks and take care!
Gerard

HuntingBoards.com that is a good site with alot of beaglers on there. After alot of years of getting trash we finally spent the money on a good line of beagles. I just sold a litter that were stacked in pedigree. Most beagles will run rabbits, biggest thing you need to figure out is what speed do you want to hunt. Brace is slow to the point it aggrevates the hell out of me but alot of people like that. medium speed will keep the rabbit up without pushing it to hard. A fast dog will burn a rabbit quick. Good luck and you will enjoy it.
