Because discussions on wolves are only slightly less frequent than the adequacy of the .270, here's a recent article from the Denver Post:

I figure since ID., WY., and MT. aren't allowed to hunt the wolves that it is only a matter of time before CO. is added to the list of states that have enough wolves that hunters and bioligists will be among those begging to allow some hunting of them to control the numbers.

All the bunny huggers who don't want hunters to kill wolves should think about natures methods of dealing with it.
A quote from the article:
This was in an area of the park where wolf density was exceptionally high.
A quote from the article:
Yellowstone officials said that during the past year, distemper, mange and wolves killing each other were the likely causes of the population decline.
Wolves often kill each other over competition for food or territory, and population density could contribute to an increase in wolf-on-wolf mortality.

Oh boy... that isn't good news. Let's hope that the powers that be begin to open their eyes to this issue.

I have found a couple dead wolves over the last year. They all showed signs of being killed by other wolves, Holes in skulls from bites, etc.... They were all smaller wolves, so either some inner pack fighting, or overcrowding causing competition for resources.
