Default Coyotes - First Time

I'm going out to get my stand out of the woods today, and thought about going after some yotes while Im out there. I never really specifically hunted coyotes. Is it stupid for me to go out with a .300 WSM? I go to college and all I have here is a bow, .300, 30-06, and a 12ga. I'm not really familiar on how to properly take a coyote. I want to get the pelt off it, so do people usually go for head shots? I'm not fond of any type of head shots.

Any 101 pointers would be helpful. Thanks!

Your chances of getting a decent pelt with any of those calibers is not very good.
