I was wondering what the best call for fox is I have tried sevaral different cottontail calls and none work. I know I have fox in the area I have seen them(just not when i have a gun). Do I need a higher pitched call or a woodpecker call or something like that. Thanks for the help.

Confused272, I' m not sure why your not calling any fox in with cottantail distress, that should work on any predator. Changeing calls might help, but I' d guess that there is something else going wrong. Make sure that you are paying close attention to the little details of calling. Such as making sure you approach the area undetected, make sure they don' t here a car door shut, make sure that they aren' t smelling you before you are seeing them, and they are getting out with you seeing them at all, to name a few things. You might just change the cadense of your calling, in that I mean, try to call with shorter squeels and more of them at one time, or try to put more life into the calling by adding a shiver to the sound. I' m just trying to say that the calls you are using may just work, if they are used slightly differently than how you are using them. On the other hand, you might try a totaling different sound. The wood pecker would be good, or if you' re using electronics, might try fox pup distress for a total different sound. Good Luck, Calling predators can be frustrating at times, but stick with it, and you will find success!
