Best all around varmint caliber?

What do you guys think is the best varmint caliber? Ill start by choosing my .223 ackley improved over any gun in my safe...i can kill anything and everything with that gun.

Think it depends on your situation. If you are just looking to kill animals at long distance without concern for their fur and without concern for cost of bullets, then your 30-06 deer rifle will work as good as anything else. If you are working pretty close and want minimal damage to the fur and low cost ammo, then my .17HMR will work fine. But plenty of other folks are gonna want something in-between those two extremes.

Depending on range and animal being hunted,I love my lil ruger 77/22 K hornet. Like to play around with the bull barreled AR too but for really long range the ol ruger #1 in .220 swift does a great job. If it's further than that or if wind is a problem,I'll grab my browning a-bolt in my 7mm wildcat.

There are a lot of things to consider when choosing the "best". I will say, there is nothing you can't do for varmints with a .223. Brass and reloading is relatively cheap, wide bullet selection, just a great all around cartridge. The AI version is even better in my opinion.
