I hate the idea of ppl like u bein ignorant and shooting them with a .22 lr, but if your going to shoot them with it then u mite as well try Yellow Jacket Hollow Points or Federal Preimium that come in a box of like 550 rounds i think

The .22LR isn't ideal for yotes, but it can work in certain situations.

1. I would limit your shots to 50 yards or less
2. I would take head shots, not chest. Shoot them in the lungs and they'll run forever. Sure, they may die later, but you'll never recover it and it will suffer longer.
3. If you're taking a head shot, make sure the yote is stationary- not running or walking. This is a problem, because in my experience, coyotes keep moving and don't completely stop all that often.

As for ammo, I would use a good quality high or hyper-velocity hollow point- CCI Stingers, Winchester PowerPoints, CCI mini-mag hollowpoints are all good.

The CCI mini mag hollow points will work fine within 50-75 yards BUT you'll need to headshoot them or be ready to keep shooting (hopefully you have a semiauto) until they quit moving and thrashing around.

If you have a mossburg 500 why not use it for coyotes. There are alot of options for shot sizes you can use. the 00 buck will definitely bring them down, but pattern density is limited.I prefer #4 buck or slightly smaller. Something in the T, BBB, BB, or 2 shot range is great for coyotes. Hevi shot dead coyote would probably be your best bet. I would stay away from the .22lr. Good luck!

CCI Stinger is what we have for my son and he does not shoot longer then 50 yards and I also carry a 12 gauge.

Keep shots close and you can kill them, but the 12Ga. would do you better.

LOL! I've had a lot of those that wouldn't penetrate a coon skull. Way too soft of lead.
