camoman - are you a hunter? Doesn't sound like it? IF so, why? Is it just the kill or do you consider yourself a game manager? I do my best to keep popualtions in check. I hunt and trap. Where I live there is an overabundance(sp?) of fox, coyotes, deer and many other animals. Trapping is a management tool. Last year in Guilford county there were 47 confirmed cases of rabies, that doesn't count distemper, mange, it als doesn't take into consideration that 2 people were attacked, including one toddler. And there is the explosion of beaver, very destructive animals. I am interested inhearing a response from you and please don't feel that I am attacking you, just trying to learn how you came to these feelings.
Yeah I am a hunter and I do enjoy huntindeer and hogs butthe thing about trappinis I wouldnt be able look the fox or bobcat in the eye and see the fear in their eyes and then shoot it and still feel good about myself. I also havent heard any reports of people gettin rabies from foxes and bobcats, i've only heard of people gettin it from coons and possums down here.

What tha!! Go to treehuggers.com or something. If it's trapped it's gone. I have 6 coons on my turkey/deer feeder. Two down 4 to go. Now that's management...
See I dont have a problem shootin coons, and your NOT TRAPPIN THEM.

If I've offended anybody I apoligize

The toddler I refered to was bitten repeatedly by a red fox. Again I am not trying to attack you or discredit your thinking, just trying to get you to see the real story. I have released fox from traps, regs. in some counties here in NC, and have watched them trot off. The modern traps are more of an inconvenience to animals than painful. They are designed to hold them, not injure them. I have walked up on animals in traps that were sleeping. So you are all for killing, as long as you don't have to look them in the eye?? Again not attacking but trying to understand. I have had discussions with anti hunting people, so your viewpoint is important to help me the next time I have someone ask or want to argue.

man i dont see how yall can do that, there aint a sportin chance for the animal. IMO people how trap must not know how to hunt at all. I mean $h!t at least when normal people go huntin they give the animal a fair chance. In no means am I against huntin but to me trappin seems unethical, i wouldnt be able to make the poor little fox or the bobcats suffer through that kind of thing. to me that would be like killin my cat or my dog. i dont even shoot foxes or bobcats when i see em in the woods, i just let em walk right on by and enjoy the fact that i got to see somethin that not many others do. Again im not against huntin this is just my opinion about trappin

Well, to begin with IM NOT AN ANTI HUNTER. It's the foothold traps that i was referrin to I know the cage traps dont hurt them, cause you know the foothold traps have to be painful for them and im pretty sure the people who use the footholds dont check their traps every hour so the animal suffers from the pain of the trap for a while. Now with the cage traps theres no harm done to the animals and they can be taken away from the property andreleasedbut the footholds injure the animal to the point where even if they were released they would most likely suffer with their injuries for the rest of their lives and that is if they dont die from infection caused by the injury. No, I am not all for the killin as long I dont look them in the eye, I could be 300 yds away and not even see the eyes of the fox or bobcat and I still would not shoot it, its just something that Im not interested in shootin, to me that would be like shootin my cat or my puppy
