take a small plastic bowl or tupperware and bury it flush with the ground and put your bait in there. then set your cage over that, on the end with the trapping enclosure. This will help you save on bait. Sometimes you might have to use tent stakes to hold the cage down, use them if you have to. You can get them from any wal-mart
