Hunting 'yotes at night
I'm thinking about hunting some coyotes at night with an electronic caller and my 22-250. My question is, how do you find the yotes at night to shoot them. I plan on taking my spotlight out with me (obviously), but how do you know when to turn it on and look for them? Do you periodically scan until you see them? Wait until you hear a sound? What is the best way to go about it?
Also, does anyone have suggestions for a cheap electronic caller?

[blockquote]I have found the best method is the same as with fox..Keep the light
in the air so all you will see is thier eyes..A red lense tends to spook
less,than the clear..If you out there much after 8 or 9 oclock.I
think you wasteing your time unless you after fox as well..Best times for
coyotes is early morning or early evening..Use a howler to locate them
if you can..They travel around a lot..Good luck and be safe..

RE: Hunting 'yotes at night
Iv done alot of yote hunting at night. One thing about at night the yotes use smell more than sight, so make sure you cover up. Another thing you might try is to use a shot gun instead of your 22. lots of times you wont know the dog is around untell he is right in front of you. I really never use a spot light, only a head light. Iv had most of my luck before 9pm, but if the dogs are called in the middle of the night with a little wounded rabbit or somthing, thay will come. Yotes like to talk at night. Good luck.
