Looking to buy a varmit rifle and was either going with the 22-250 or the .223. What do you guys think is better. Also i was going to top it with a bushnell Dusks and Dawn 6-18x. The gun was probably going to be the Remington 700 Varmiter. Whats everyone's opinion on that set up?

Sounds good. The 22-250 will deliver just a little more whop on the targets. Both are good choices though!

How far you gonna be shooting?

sounds to me like you have a pretty good idea on what ya want. I see no problems with your possible setup. I personally would probably take the .223 just because thats what im used to shooting but for a first varmint gun theres absolutely no reason not to go with a 22-250.
