RE: Hogs

I' m going hog hunting this weekend.

We' re spreading out corn this evening and hunting all day tomorrow.

Sitting in a stand works.

I find the most enjoyable form to be baiting and stalking. We don' t take our hog hunting too seriously. It' s more of a fun job. They need to be cleared, so we take some time out of our schedule to have fun outdoors.

most success in this hot weather will be at nite. put out corn and sit in a stand.it is legal in texas to hunt hogs with a spotlight. you will hear them. when they start to tear into the corn put on the light.make sure you have a big gun. i use a 7mag and 45.70. shoot behind the ear. this will keep them from running off. also be very prepared to put a second round in them. they are as tough as my old lady.if you are going to be seperated along with other hunters carry a walkie talkie.
go to web site " oversized outfitters" . there is a pic in the trophy room of a hog i killed. i am in arlington and love to hunt hogs. give me a call and we can talk.

I love to hunt old Sus scrofa.....feral hogs that is.

There are 2 kinds of land owners-one with a hog problem and the one who' s gonna have a hog problem.

Ive killed probobly 50+ witha bow - the closest was 10 feet and the farthest was 20 yards. Never been charged by one.

Shot my first hog of the season last year standing in my underwear and hunting boots right in front of the bunk house at 2' oclock in the morning. I was standing at the rear bumper and he was at the front bumper. I actually walked less than 3 feet from it on the way to get my bow out fo the back of the truck.

Hog hunting kicks a$$.

If enough guys hear would want to go right after this next hunting season - I' ll put one together. Should cost no more than $200 for whole weekend. Bowhunting only ofcourse.

All I' ve got is a .270. Buddy' s got everything. I' d like to get something in lever-action, though. Something like a 45/70.

His folks live in Floresville, that' s where we went. We set stuff out, but due to transportation problems late that evening, we weren' t able to get out there.

Oh well. Those SOBs aren' t going anywhere. Heck, they' ll probably double in number by the time we get back out.

You can kill hogs just about any way imaginable... but you' re not going to kill them off. They reproduce like crazy, and just when you think you' ve got ' em all, you' ll have another 15.

The most fun way is to stalk them - 12 gauge pump and a good idea of where they are and where they' re going.

It' s really easy to throw out some corn or put up a feeder... putting up a feeder will put them on a schedule, and much more than deer, will come running at the sound of the feeder.

Hog Wild is good stuff, but corn works just as well - hogs are anything but picky eaters.

Long story short, you don' t have to put too much thought into it. They' re tough, but a good shot with a 12 gauge or a decent-sized (.270, for instance) rifle will put them down.
