This morning, Mr. Rick, Chris (on the left) Garen aka G-Dawg02 (center) and myself headed out to the river to hunt some crows. With 9 crow decoys, an owl, and a crow and owl fight tape. We witnessed a mass of crows. We had some great shooting. It's good to get rid of some of these things at the lease, they're quite overpopulated(though not as much now.) We got about 40, lost a few, but most are pictured here. We got out at about 5:30 and didn't pack up til about 11:30. The suckers just wouldn't quit coming in. Great day though, went through a few boxes of shells, quite frankly, I embarassed myself with my poorness of shooting, but the other guys did alright. Just wanted to share the story and pics.

Dang, looks like you had a good time. It amazes me how those crows will come to that crow/owl fighting tape. That has been the best method that I have used to bring them in too. Way to go Froman, I had to look twice to figure out which guy you were in the pic.

Crow and owl fight tape why sounds like a good investment. I forget what our tape is but we don't have days like that so maybe we need to get one. Looks like a fun day in the woods. Well once blackpowder wraps up this Saturday My group is planning on doing the same thing get rid of the noisy crows. I hope our carnage is even half of what your day appears to have been. My question is this did you set up at the same spot all day or did your group move around at all?

We killed about 20 in one spot, decided to move and killed about 20 in the other spot. We reset the decoys out each time, got in some cover, and used the crows we'd already killed as more decoys. It worked fine...good luck on the hunting!

Since deer season was out, last Saturday my 11 year old grandson and I went on a shoot anything trip to our deer lease. We carried shotguns and I took my old Mallardtone mouth blown crow call. We killed 10 from 1:00 pm til 4:00 pm. I would call 1 or 2 in at a time. I also placed the dead crows in the edge of our open field as decoys when we bagged one. This seemed to help. We had one live crow that was winged and he worked pretty good til he made his way to the bushes and disappeared. I am very interested in this sport as a good way to get in the woods during the off season and extend my hunting time. I am very interested in learning more techniques. I like to use high powered 6 shot. Is the regular 7.5 shot strong enough to bag them consistently. How far apart do you place the decoys? Is an owl fight or hawk fight tape the same thing? How effective is the owl decoy? Is hunting better in the AM or PM? What choke in your gun is best? Sorry for all the questions but my grandson and I want to make the most of our time afield together. All help will certainly be appreciated as I am still in the learning stage.

Tree climber, no we didn't eat them, we let the foxes have them. I don't know if I could adjust my mind to encourage my taste buds to try the aroma of crow. lol Since I made the last post I found out about a website called www.crowbusters.com
The guys on this site are serious crow hunters. You may want to visit it for a few minutes. I will go out again this weekend if the weather permits. It is supposed to get bad here Friday, SNOW is in the forecast. That is something we don't see here often. I have 6 boxes of 12 Ga. 3.25 dram 1 1/8 oz. 7.5 I need to get shot up Saturday.
