I need some help with a scoped airgun
I have a RWS 34 in 177. I bought an el cheapo(just bought a house not much fundage available for a while) airgun scope made by daisy for it. When I mounted it and fired it the first time it struck low. Well adjusting it I finally ran out of adjustment. Well I tried a shim of electricians tape under the scope in the rear ring. I didn't tighten this down tightly for fear of breaking something. Well it has more than enough adjustment now for 10 yards. However at 25 yards it strikes pretty high still. Do these airguns have a strange trajectory that would explain this or is there something I am missing? If I were to remove the tape would this maybe impact normally at 25 yards or so? I don't even know the nominal range of these airguns. Somebody lend me some information here.

RE: I need some help with a scoped airgun
it depends on a lot of factors.is the gun pumped the same each time,is the scope mounted on the reciever or the barrell??
I had one that I could never keep on site.after a few very disturbing weeks tring to get it to hit the same,I finally saw my problem.
the barrell and reciver were moving indepently.the scope was mounted to the reciever and the barrell would move when the reciever wouldn't.with it like that you can never get it sighted.
if yours is all together and tight, you need to check the #of pumps you give.if you shim the scope,I would say to take a beer or coke can and cut little strips to skim with, you can use several strips if needed.the tape will mash thinner depending on how tight you put it.
Hope this helps!!<img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

With RWS you should get a good air rifle scope, cabelas has them,it may cost a bit but they are worth it. i have an RWS for 15 years now with a good scope on it. you will have to slightly sight it in from time to time because of atmessphereic pressure changes.this gives you a little different valume on diferant days.i have shot squirrles out to 55 yards with it.for those that don't know RWS is a 1 pump air rifle 1100 fps.at 50 yds i can put pellets in the same hole. good luck.

oh , i forgot, check the big screw under the stock. if its loose you'll shoot all over the place.and use a good pellet, those copper one from the chain stores are crap and each one wil shoot differant. i like toshoot the heavest pellet i can get.and i do not like the hollow points or flat nose, they seem to drift also.

Anybody got any info pertaining to the ballistics of an air rifle such as this? Does it climb well above the boreline or what?
