Ok guys so I am rather unexperienced with firearms and firearm accessories as archery is my prefrence.

However, I just bought a .17 HMR and am looking for a sling for it. I like the "grip" that the clawoffers but I do not like it's looks.

Is there a sling that offers "grip" like the claws in a better looking package?

I know which sling you are talking about, in my opinion it dosent grip, or work, any better than any other normal looking slings. It is easier to grip and hold onto with your hand, but when its on your shoulder it slips as easilly as a flat leather one.

I dont think there is much of a difference in slings, I have tried a lot of different ones.

It's hard to go wrong with a simple neoprene sling, they look good and don't slip.

In my opinion 90% of the slings purpose is to assist in shooting, the other 10% is for carrying. Keep that in mind when making a purchase. I have a cheap one from Wal-mart that works great. It has a series of loops for adjusting. Pull the outer loop toward the barrel and it gets longer, pull it toward the butt-end and it gets tight to the gun. It was only like $14 and I like it better than any of my previous, more expensive ones.

Go to slingstix.com, they have a nice solid sling with some nice solid shooting stix built in. Just look it would take a while to explain. They are about $50-$60 i think but its worth it.

Like someone said, there are some pretty nice neoprene slings for $15 at my local sporting goods store and walmart that don't slip. A lot of guides in Alaska recommend them, my bro is one.

Jake, just wondering if you have tried these, or areyoujudging based on the fancy website? I saw a post by one guy that used them and he said they were junk. I have no idea, just wondering.

It does seem like having the sticks in the sling might make it uncomfortable.
