Default Grey Fox

I seen a grey fox for the first time yesterday. I jumpedit out of some thick stuff in theriverbottoms.Untill then I didnt think they existed in this part of Indiana. The only other one I saw was one that my uncle caught and he got it mounted. The taxidermist said that it was only the second one he has ever done. I didnt have a gun, but If i did I know I would have shot it or shot at it anyways. Im glad I didnt now though because maybe there making a comeback. Are they rare or do they just prefer a certain kind of habitat? I see a lot of red foxes, so do reds and greys not share the same territory? Thanks for any replies.

Gray foxes prefer the thicker stuff while reds prefer more open territory. I've heard both kinds are becoming scarce where coyotes roam.
