This is in upstate, NY.

We have an interesting setup. We have a motion detector seperately mounted on this tree that sets off a bell in the house, then the trail camera mounted above that taking pictures.

When we hear the bell go off at night we attempt to shoot anything legal (coyote, bobcat, fox) using a spotlight, given it stands there long enough to get a shot. Last night we stared at this thing from 150 yards away and between two of us looking through my scope, couldn't tell for sure if it was a housecat or not. Its harder than you'd think at that distance with only a spotlight, not daylight. Well the camera this morning told us the story. Oh well, we'll get em next time. Still can't believe a bobcat just stood there for 15 minutes with us spotting it, thats part of the reason we thought it was a housecat.
