Need help desperately!
I am tanning some squirrel hides and am having a problem with ants. It doesn't matter if the hides are dried or not the ants cover them. I haven't gotten to the actual tanning yet so they are just dried or drying. Will the ants damage them (as I suspect they will) and how can I keep them off? I am desperate here! Any help is appreciated.

RE: Need help desperately!
Blood....Do you have enough hides to try the other tanning method discussed recently? Maybe the salt used in the salt and alum method will prove distasteful to the insects. Treat your best hides your favorite way but try a few of the second quality ones with the salt ans alum. Good luck with it! Please do post here about the results.
