I shot my first yote last year with my 270 at about 125 yrd. using 140 gr. nosler accubond, and the results were about a 6 in. wide exit wound. So if you don't care about the fur and deer hunt alot I would say go for it and get some FMJ bullets (if they make them?) for the dogs. But the 243 is great for yotes and will work for deer but is a little too light for my fancy but WILL work, so if you want the fur I would go with the 243 and just try not to take too long of shots on the deer and use some good varmint bullets (i.e., hollow points, hornady v-max...).

If you're not going to eat it or make a rug out of it, there is no such thing as overkill on coyotes. If you just want to kill some yotes, who the heck cares what it looks like in the end??

kind of like what others have mentioned above. . .a .270 will kill em real dead but if you want the hide your gonna have to deal with a big hole in it. If you really want to keep the hides nice go real small and quick. 22-250 or so. . . .
