I from the northeast also and it looks like a Canadian Lynx as the tail is to long for a Bobcat and to short for a Mountain Lion. Also in the top photo
it appears to have a short wide mouth. The dark spots on the ears would
be common if a better photo on the back of the ears could be seen. I
believe that with a better shot it would show the butterfly markings that
are common on both the Bobcat and the Canadian Lynx. So a Canadian
Lynx and that is my take on this.

hmm, well if it came by there frequently maybe you should put a bullet in it and find out? haha its a nice looking cat but maybe its a hybrid? what are the rules regarding shooting a hybrid? check the books before you shoot.

Definately not a lion! Bobcat. You can see white at the tip of the tail and underneath. The tip of alynx's tail should be black all the way around.

If in fact that is what the photo shows, then without a doubt it would be a bobcat. With all the light colored back ground I am not sure of the white tail markings.

It can't be a mountain lion. It's tail is about a foot and a half too short for that.
