I haven't noticed any build up issue. I guess we'll find out soon when my wife and I go pdog hunting in June and shoot hundreds of rounds thrugh them. I have two new mod 12 22.250's. One is the mod12 BVSS and the other is the Mod 12 VLP. My wife shoots and hunts with me so we have lots of rifles. These mod 12's are designed for all day bench shooting, they are heavy and have oversized bolts on them.

I have a savage 243. I think it is a model 12, but I can't remember for sure. It has the 26" bull barrel and the black plastic stock and accu trigger. My rifle only weighs 8.75 lbs. Only 2-3 lbs heavier than a regular rifle. Not that much difference. I sure can't say it makes any difference weight wise if I carry it around. The longer barrel makes it a little harder though. Tends to catch on things shorter barrels wouldn't.

I don't know what kind of goup it would shoot off a bench rest because I don't have one to shoot it on. I can say I shot a buck with it at close to 400 yards. I shoot the 95 grain win balstics tips. Seems like I can keep my shots within a baseball-softball size group at 300 yards. I know the gun is more accurate than I am. Thats good enough for me.

Oh and by the way, I have breathing problems and need the extra weight for the stablity to be able to shoot with accurately in the field. Light weight is not always good when the cross hairs bounce like a damn ping pong ball.
