My brothers Stevens 200 in 22-250 has a Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15x40mm with the rainguard coating and its perfect for open country shooting. Can't beat the rainguard for cold weather shooting, but the higher power does seem to make close range shots a more difficult arrangement but thats ok too. Like Duckbutter48 said practice is more important and scope choice is a personal thing and most answers are biased anyways, go with what you like and practice, practice, practice!

All this Leupold bashing and the pricing complaints are a little tiresome...:D Easy guys/girls , easy. Leupold is a great company, more expensive sure, but quality is what you pay for. Guess people didn't see the new rules for the knocking on opnions..... From BSA to Nikon, you have many choices obviously, but I would try to fork a little more money in the scope than be sorry later that you hadn't. It could be a Leupold, it could be a Nikon, or it could be a good old bushnell, providing it can handle the shock of the selected chambered rifle.Just my honest opinion.

CoyoteS. I saw the new rules. I didnt think saying a scope is overpriced is really nocking the company though. What I mean buy overpriced for example is if you take the 300$ for a Vari-x II 3-9-40 and buy a Burris or Nikon or Bushnell for 300$ you'll have a better scope in one of the other 3. I again dont think that is bashing Leupold. They are good scopes just I have 3 of them just think you can get a better deal with other stuff.

The Nikoplex is just a standard X-hairs not heavy or thin. Just like Pentax calls it a Pentaplex just a nifty way to name itbut it just the regular sites.

I really appreciate the help with finding a scope. I know what you are talking about Duck with the scope. The VX-ll seems to be a great scope for me, but was pretty expensive, haha.

The Nikon seems to be what alot of people are liking in quality and the reviews are pretty good. I will try the buckmaster with mildot and see what happens.

Any other opinions welcome.

Thanks again,
Kyle

No bashing here... Let's just lay out the facts... Leupold charges $200+ for a scope with "friction" wind adjustment, a three-piece tubeand lenses which are not fully multicoated (VX-1 and Rifleman). Look at the Simmons AETEC line for the same price you get fully multicoated lenses and 1/4 click adjustments... Or the Bushnell Elite 3200 you get all of that and a one-piece tube. I would also check out the Sightron SII. Don't get me wrong I like my Leupold VX-II, but I got a steal on it ($100), I wouldn't but the more inexpensive ones for the reasons listed. Again I am not trying to state "opinion" these are just the features/facts.

i would recommend a ziess...........hahaha.....yea right.....i have a crappy 80 scope on mine and i hate it, never focuses right at further distances...........but i have got two long distance kills with it at 290 yards and 396 yards in the last year.............my scope is a 6-24 zoom by 50...........the high end ones just cost to much but i am sure they are worth every penny.......prob looking to put at 500 dollar scope on mine....
