It also stated 2% of auto/deer collisions resulted in human fatalities, 85% of all motorcycle/deer collisions result in human fatalities. I don't see any problem with being last in this category.

The article also said deer/auto collisions cost over a billion dollars a year in the US. Didn't say what PAs cut out of that would be, but being #1 in auto/deer conflicts it must be high.
