RE: New to Hunting...

By far the best all choice round in my opeinion is the 06 and 308. In those calibers I do recommend the Savage Model 116FSS or the Model 110GXP3 because of the accutrigger and the price.
I...

RE: What to use on my hunt?

Kind of depends on what size the hog is and how far you are shooting, location?
I prefer my AR 15 in .223 for quick head shots for anything up to 150-170lb.
If you are going after bigger hog or...

RE: AR-Platform for hunting?

The 6.8 will handle both just fine out to around 200y or so, and since you already have the lower for it why spend the extra on a 10 model.
A nice place to look would be Ko-Tonics, quality stuff.

RE: Favorite Caliber for Hogs and Why?

I can now vouch for the 25-06 with Hornady 117's !:D Took my very first hog and man it really did the job,in fact after looking at the damage I kinda figure a .223 would have no issues at all...

RE: Anyone ever give their stock a paint job?

RE: Good Rifle for under $500?

I held both the Tikka and the Savage before making my choice. Both nice rifles and I don't think either one will treat you badly.
I had pretty much set my heart on the Tikka until I actually got to...

RE: need help deciding what gun brand to buy

Well I just received my Savage 110 FP- all I can say is WOW.
It shoots quite a bit better than a few of the Rems I fired, but then again, heavier barrel to and gotta love that trigger!

RE: .270 max. range

It would have to be perfect weather conditions , a solid rest, and one heck of a trophy buck before I ever considered firing over 300y.
Deer for meat can be shot at short ranges 99% of the time...

RE: Tikka T3 or Weatherby Sub MOA

RE: Tikka T3 or Weatherby Sub MOA

The Tikka T3 Lite is just that, Lite. At a shade over 6lb of course it will have more recoil, but it also has a huge price advantage and is also supposed to be MOA.
Your other option is the Tikka...

RE: Howa-Ruger Frontier?

I'm going to have to go to the shop and hold that Frontier for a bit. I'm 5'8' 190 and it looks like an ideal stalk setup in 308 or 7mm-08.

I'm just wondering if the Howa would be as good as the...

Howa-Ruger Frontier?
