The buck may have broken his kneck, but it was not on impact, as Antlergetter said( the ground was dug up from a struggle to get out ), as well the tree shows the same signs, this is not possible...

I almost forgot to include that the bottom ribs in pic 5 apear to show damage and blood stains, consistant with a heavy wound and thats why the scavengers starting to eat in this area I would assume...

Im not so sure that this was a rub ,I spent a little time reviewing the pics, and everything that I have seen looks to be an extreme freak accident or something else .
