You probably won't read this until you get back, but a "licking branch" is usally just above a large scrape and is used by deer in the area to telegraph their presence to other deer, mostly bucks....

You'll not be missing the rut. It may be the tail end, but there are still late does coming into season and some of the biggest bucks of the year are killed during Thanksgiving week! Hunt those creek...

:)Cabela's Winter 800 by Meindl. Warmest, most comfortable boot I've ever worn. Spendy, but my ankles are not what they used to be and they give good support.
