RE: o/u shotguns under $1k

eparvier, I've got a good deal on an O/U in the classifieds if you are interested. $1000 will get you a nice O/U, but for the casual shooter, something less expensive will allow you to shoot and see...

Anyone use a Patternmaster?

I've got a Patternmaster, the newest and longest model, for my Franchi 912. I hope to pattern it this weekend with Hevi 3" #6s. Has anyone else used or patterned a PM for turkeys? It puts a...

RE: turkey vest

Gobblenutt...At one time Basspro had their Redhead Bucklick Creek lounger on sale for $40, but normally it is $49.95. This is the model I have, and man it is comfy with a ton of well placed pockets....

RE: turkey vest

I second the Bucklick Creek lounger. That has got to be the most comfortable vest I have ever sat in. With the lounge seat, you don' t even need a tree to lean against. I think it is the most...

RE: choke restriction

I agree with dsheally. I tried Win HV #6s and Fed. 2 1/4 #6s and there was no comparison, the Winchesters won by a landslide. This was in a Charles Daly auto with a Hastings .650 choke.

RE: wally world' s primos or cody?

Throw in another vote for the Primos Power Crystal. It is my #1 go to call. Keep in mind that I don' t have any high dollar custom calls either. You can' t go wrong with the Primos and a...

RE: Velocity Vs. Penetration

Mr. Longbeard, we will just have to agree to disagree on the subject of #6s. God forbid, but if I ever cripple one with #6s, I will switch to a larger size shot or Hevishot. What matters is that we...

RE: New to sport

Bass Pro has a Bucklick Creek lounge vest that is outstanding. I have hunted with traditional seat type vests before, but I am really looking forward to hunting out of this new lounger. It is VERY...

RE: Which gun?

Clearanceman...Don' t worry with what others say. If it is legal, and you feel comfortable with it, use the rifle. The only thing bad that can happen is you shoot one with a rifle and find out it...

RE: Velocity Vs. Penetration

I am stuck using #6s I' m afraid. The choke I am using is a Hastings extended .650. This setup will have to do for this year. Sometimes good enough has to be good enough. I' ll just have to keep...

RE: Velocity Vs. Penetration

Mr. Longbeard, I would like to hear your reasoning behind not using #6 shot within 40 yards. I have never heard anyone who said #6s would not kill a turkey within that range.
I would truly like to...

RE: Velocity Vs. Penetration

I think I will stick with what I' ve got, the HV #6s. I just have a hard time not trying to get better, tighter patterns. K.I.S.S. should be tatooed to my forehead so I don' t forget :D

Gobblin in Eastern NC

Went to scout near Tarboro in Edgecombe County on Saturday and heard a couple gobblers firing back at crows. I can' t wait til April 12. Has anyone else been hearing anything in Eastern NC?

RE: stardot?

I didn' t get very good results out of my Charles Daly 3.5" auto with the Rem. Choke Star Dot using 3.5" Win. HV #4s, 5s or 6s. I borrowed a Hastings .650 and found the magic with Win. HV #6s in...

Velocity Vs. Penetration

As of now, I am shooting 3.5" Win. HV #6s at 1300 fps and getting good patterns. I am thinking of trying Win. XX #6s at 1150 fps, for the additional 1/4 oz. of shot.

Shooting #6s, I do not plan...
