RE: self-bow making materials- a good supplier...

For the self or all wood bows call Murray Gaskins. He also has a nice website with some pretty good info on bow building.

RE: Wipe-on Polyurathane

The waxing sounds like a great idea. I use "bullet lube" It's a heavy, oily substance used to keep bullets from sticking when reloading. Works great but kinda messy.

RE: What are the top 10 limb core woods????

I like Cedar as a belly on a Hickory backed bow but it must be clear of knots and straight grained. Use only a thin Hickory backing to avoid crushing the Cedar. I always have one of these bows...

I agree Plywood, nothing like working on Cedar to give the shop a goooood smell and a light weight, beautiful, fine shooting bow.

RE: What about Risers - What's Best???

You better go back and try a couple of different Red Heads. I still say women are like bows, even a really good looking one can turn out to be a dud sometimes. You can't form an educated opinion...

RE: What about Risers - What's Best???

Bows are like women, some men like blonds, brunets or redheads. Some men prefer their women tall, short, skinny or plump. To find the one you like the best you have to try them all. The tendancy is...

RE: Bamboo Limbs???

I'm going to be a bit skeptical here. Have you ever known a bowyer to
prefer a wood he couldn't obtain. A wood that's in short supply. I know my preferences changed the day I found the worlds...

RE: Doe vs. Buck

Back when your Grandfather was helping to instill hunting ethics in your father, there were few if any deer in my part of the country. No sportsman would consider shooting a doe else the entire...

RE: Bamboo Limbs???

What I'm about to say is bad new for those looking for a "Magic" wood. I've tried just about everything but the top ten woods all perform just about the same. The heavier woods are a bit slower and...

RE: Bamboo Limbs???

Bamboo glues up great, it's easy to dry, grinds easily into good smooth laminations. Takes a nice stain and it's light weight which translates into less hand shock. It recovers quickly and I've...

RE: How to attach rest material.

Use Barge Cement, It's the first choice. Rubber Cement would be second. You can pull the rest off later if you want without pulling up the finish. In fact you can generally just roll the old glue...
