I would consider a feist and the various cur breeds. They make great companion dogs and very loyal. also you mentioned you hunted squirrels, there aint nothing like hunting squirrels and coon behind...

I would not suggest tieing your dog sewage runoff to your septic system, I have had dogs all my life and there are 2 animals that the stool does not break down fast enough for a normal septic system...
