Yeah, that's my old Cudde Capture (workhorse) that goes through a lot of batteries. I guess Me or Dad forgot to set the year right but these are from within the last couple weeks.

Get 12 for $18 at Sams.
They usually last about a year per camera.

I personally run Coverts and Reconyx myself but it's impossible to get decent models in the $100-150 range that I'm willing to spend on a 9yr old for Christmas present.

I just picked up a couple of Cuddeback Long Range C2 cams a few months ago for $149 a piece off of Amazon and they are doing great on batteries and the pictures look great.

I've been using flash cameras for 8yrs now and have thousands pics of mature bucks that keep coming back. They get used to them.
It's harder to find true flash cameras...

Cameras that give quality images/video require power and use batteries.
Reconyx are excellent on battery life but there is no way to get the data from them remotely...

The cheaper the camera, the slower the trigger and more batteries your going to be buying.
Put that cost of batteries against a better camera and you won't be buying them...

Why would you use a mini SD in your Covert though?
SD cards are cheap, just get some extras and do field swaps.
That's what most of us do.
