I would go the Stevens, gives you a quick follow-up shot if needed and with a little work accurate.

Barrel is matte finish, 26 inches long and is 7 MM Remington Ultra Mag.

I got a winchester model 70 in a 243wssm has been shot 12 time acording to the guy I got it from and has had the trigger done. Comes with 50 rounds of brass and dies.

The 7mm-08 will do and do it well. I took a moose with mine with 160 grain nostlers partitions. I have also taken elk with it.

The deer herd is northern Ut. is being fed, probably loose a few. The herd in central part and southern part of state still doing good.

I live in Utah, the drawing ended last Thursday, you can go to wildlife.utah.gov.. Another interesting site to find out your odds of drawing is hunterstrailhead.com good luck.

The 7mm-08 or the 308 either one will handle mule deer or elk:)
